  1. 6mm offset for GXP. 3mm may work if you're running boost.
  2. Nice. Now I get to deal with the unfair dismissal dispute at road freight bargaining council. He will probably argue that he showed remorse and the sanction of dismissal was inappropriate. We truly live in wonderland.
  3. Buy whatever you want. If you want it enough then it's worth having. ...Use it, don't use it.
  4. Don't bother. Honestly it's not worth the effort. Any repair will be very temporary. Probably no more than a couple of rides. Then you take some air and the pedal pops out on the landing. You can pick up a 2nd hand replacement fairly cheaply.
  5. I am riding arch mk3 on the back and crest mk3 on the front and no issues after 6 months. I'm 92kg. Ride tygerburg hills.
  6. Just get the shimano mineral oil. The small bottle is cheap enough and every bike shop will have. Alternatively ask them to put some in a tub and syringe it in yourself. Why take a risk with a product you may struggle to flush out later.
  7. Not sure I agree here. A new XX1 cassette will cost around R 5000.00. If I can pick up a slightly used one for around R1700-2000 I will. It is easy to establish how much use it has had and they last forever. I will often just buy them and keep them in storage until I need it. I honestly cannot remember when I purchased a new cassette... probably 6 years ago. The same principle applies to chainrings. I agree on the Chain, brake pads and tyres though. Mainly because these items are cheap and there is no benefit in buying second hand. I will probably never buy a used fork without inspection first. Some sellers don't disclose stanchion damage or downplay it. You cannot repair a FOX fork for less than R 7000.00. I have discussed the issue at length with Omnico and they confirm. The new Rockshox fast black and FOX Kashima coatings wear especially quickly.
  8. Interesting... or is it. I have to agree with most of the comments above. I remember a time when the place to find a bargain was on this site. I've always enjoyed dealing with fellow rubbers because, generally, we are trustworthy people. I have noticed a definite decrease in the number of bargains advertised here and don't spend nearly as much time on the site as I previously did. A major factor which crept in a few years ago was, for example people purchasing the bargain bike on the Monday and advertising it for 20% higher the next day. We then saw an influx of quasi "dealers" who wanted to use the forum to make money, which sadly, has detracted from the interest factor and viability. Having said that I am selling items fairly easily and still purchase frequently from other hubbers..... I have dealt with most people participating in this thread. I ticked option 2 above. Here are the realities/tips: 1) You need to be flexible as a seller - if your price is set in stone (regardless of your valuation) you will probably struggle to sell. The value of an item is (probably) only what someone is willing to pay; 2) Dont bother selling items that are trashed; 3) Don't get upset if someone makes a low offer - say no and move on; 4) Remain friendly when communicating - leave the indignation for your boss; 5) If someone makes a negative comment on your ad don't freak out - they are probably trying to help. I really enjoy the interaction I have with other traders on this site and don't want the result to determine the experience. If I have to give something away because it makes me feel good, I will. Now please find my ads and make me good offers
  9. 100% satisfied with postnet to postnet. Never taken more than 3 days. Use service frequently. Send and receive.
  10. Clearly you've never had a roastie where it took months to get healed as a result of hair growing through the scab. Clippers work perfectly and you're done in 5 minutes. Cost of clippers is recovered after a few months.
  11. Agents are down in Cape Town. Cape cycle systems. I chatted to them and they confirmed that they have plenty stock of spares..... rarely needed though. Wheels are pretty reliable.
  12. Use the quick link. Easier to remove chain for cleaning. There is also the chance of the link failing. I am an experienced mechanic but had a link fail once. Bending side to side does open the plates but also rounds the edges. The links work perfectly and are safe.
  13. You mean wheel that sucks. Great wheels. I am happy with my 29er race wheels.
