Hi Hubbers

I for one gave the licensing issue the thumbs up last year and the advocated for members to belong to clubs however after reading the newsclip sent to the provinces and reading the issues on the hub with regards to licensing/contracts I am disappointed.

The fee structure for licenses will increases after approval at the board meeting in Feb and all clubs to pay for commercial wording on kit:

1-PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW DO YOU INTRODUCE A NEW SYTEM TO THE MASSES AND THEN INCREASE THE FEE CHARGES WITHOUT ANY IDEA OF HOW WELL THE SYSTEM WILL WORK AND IF THE NUMBERS BASED ON THE CURRENT FEE SYSTEM IS WORTHWILE HAVING, THE FIRST BATCH OF LICENSES HAS NOT EVEN REACHED THE MAN IN THE STREET yet their is an increase mooted already. FRIDAY AFTERNOON CGC WAS STILL NOT SURE WHAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED IN THE FORM OF LICENSES.

2- ORDINARY CLUBS MUST NOW SIGN A CONTRACT WITH CSA AND PAY A CONTRACT FEE IF THEY HAVE COMMERCIAL ADVERTISING ON THEIR KIT, WHY I ASK, WHAT HAS CSA DONE TO HELP THESE CLUBS GET THIS SPONSORSHIP FROM THE SAID BUSINESSES. ONE UNDERSTAND THE RACING TEAMS HAVING TO PAY THESE FEES AS THEY ARE THE ONES WHO RECEIVE ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES AT RACES, US FUNRIDERS ACTUALLY PART FUND THE EVENT AND NOW WE MUST PAY EVEN MORE BECAUSE WE WANT SOME UNIFORMITY AMONGST OUR OWN? NO FAIR.

3- LAST YEAR I WAS ASKED TO PRODUCE MY MANAGERS LICENSE SEVERAL TIMES AT RACES I RODE SUPPORT IN YET THE SAME RACE/EVENT HAD PERSONS DOING SUPPORT WHOM I KNOW DID NOT HAVE LICENSES AND THEY WERE NEVER CHECKED.N YOU A FAMOUS CLUB/PERSON WE OVERLOOK YOU AT THE EXPENSE OF THE LESSER CLUBS.I NOTICED MANY PERSONS WROTE AND PASSED THEIR EXAM FOR MANAGERS LICENSE OVER THE FESTIVE PERIOD AND YET TO SEE A CERTAIN PERSONS NAME APPEAR FROM ONE OF THE PRO CLUBS AND YES HE RODE SEVERAL RACES WITHOUT A MANAGER'S LICENSE COME SUNDAY I AM SURE IT WILL BE THE SAME AGAIN BECAUSE HIS CLUB SAYS SO.

Enough until the Thursday when we see what pans out for the Fast one PS. It will be fun watching what happens at number collection when a day license fee is requested before handing over your race entry

Please also remember that the moment that commercial wording appear on

club kit, the club still needs to submit a design and a contract,

exactly like in the old days :) Please tell all your clubs.

Where do you get that clubs must pay something to the CSA? From what I know the clubs always paid a membership fee to the province, but it's minimal and not a percentage of the overall sponsorship received. CGC is probably just pissed off because the CSA is actually busy taking in that money. I guess it won't be so easy to build swimming pools anymore. Wink

Napalm what you reading, the mail was sent out by CSA not CGC and no the run of the mill clubs did not sign contracts before only clubs with racing teams that were licensed. Commercial contract with CSA is around R2500 my friend not small change.

On the topic of commercial contracts that costs R2500, as member of CGC and CSA, I have a question on licensing fees. Hopefully this time I will get a concrete answer from CSA and CGC. When a race participant enters a race, there is now a temp license fee which varies betwen R20 and R30. I have applied and paid for a full-time license.

Where does all of funding go to? I would like to know how do I as a registered member benefit from the license fees that are paid to CSC and CSA? I think as a registered member, I have a right to know where my license fees are used?????

I'm speaking under correction, but I think if you show a printout of your application it's considered as a temp license. If you're made to pay, I believe you will be credited in future.

It is used to train and develop the masses that are below par so that they can ride our bikes that were forcibly/illegally redistributed to the masses better and compete against us with our own bikes.

I agree these payments towards CSA for commercial partners is bull. In this day and age you're just to happy if you get R3000 for your club. And to then give it to CSA...

I will take it up but it could be to late as you guys are already paying.

Did CSA just implement it without asking its affiliates?

What world you living in, show me where this development is taking place and I big to differ about the masses issue as we all know if at all there is around 2% of POC cycling throughout the country

Groot Lem this was in the CSA circular sent to provinces as a reminder. I have commercial wording on my club kit which was kindly donated by the branded company, no finances was given to us at all. Inter-Active Technologies went out of their way to purchase full kit( including rain jackets and winter jackets as well) for my club at their expense from Vermarc which now means I must go and beg someone or tell my sponsor "Listen seeing that your name appears on the kit you now must pay CSA R2200-00" What exactly Do I as a club get as a benefit for this from CSA as I pay per member to the province R75-00 for membership then CSA receives another R75-00 or whatever the new fee will be after the meeting at month end.

In running I pay R66-00 per year for my license irrespective of where I run (x/country, track, road)in any province.Commercial clubs in athletics DO NOT pay any additional costs to either the province or national body and yes they are creaming sponsorships left right and centre, Just look at the Yellow pages series or the Nedbank series.
