"Oh, and yes, helmets are law, so let a cop enforce it. Don't run around doing other peoples work."

The cops cannot enforce anything these days. So, if you see anything that will hurt cycling in general, then it is up to you to enforce the law. Don't waste your time with small stuff, but major violations should be taken care off.

Just seen a cyclist on a MTB riding from Bellville to Parow area. Keeping up the traffic behind him by riding a meter + from the curb....

No Helmet... ConfusedOuch

When I passed him on the left.... Yes me bad ... Wink

I asked him "Morning... Where is the helmet?" ... Just got a blank stare....Tongue    Not even a Hi

No wonder that the motorists think bad of us cyclist Cry

When is the law going to be enforced?

Thanks.... Now I feel better Tongue

I don't get it. Just because you also ride a bike does this give you the right to be an enforcer of the rules? It's not even law that one needs to wear a helmet. If it were' date=' you STILL have no right to just wind down and chirp a complete stranger because of what YOU think is right. You telling me that when you see a person driving without a safety belt on, you roll down your window and say "Morning... Where is the safety belt?". By your logic, because you're also driving a car, you are connected by the 'brotherhood of road users'.
You're lucky you only got a blank stare and not a cleat mark on the side of your car.

I disagree....yesterday afternoon I did exactly the same thing just in a different context....a guy stopped next to me at a traffic light in his car (and I was in mine) and the passenger tossed a sigarette bud out of the window and I did roll down my window and asked him if his car's ashtray was broken....and don't tell me its not the same....the principal remains the same.  There are ENOUGH a$$holes polluting our roads.....

GREAT! I bet you felt glad that 'in principle' you did your bit hey ;) wHooooooop!!
Just be careful of poking your nose into things though. You might think you're a hero once too often, and one day you'll do this to the wrong person and get the living &%$#^% beaten out of you. Then you can tell everyone that you are in a wheelchair because of a stompie :D VERRRRY philanthropic of ya!

Oh, and yes, helmets are law, so let a cop enforce it. Don't run around doing other peoples work.

shame must be very sad and lonely on your planet.....I bet you are one of those people who always walk away when someone is in need is knocking on your door because you don't get involved or one of those people who always speed past a lady cyclist stranded roadside with a puncture.....because wHoooooop!! because I don't get involved.....

Next time Cape Town burns down because of a sigarette bud out of an ignorant asshole's window.....you and I will chat again....have a super day !!

We not enforcing it... We just asking the question... If I wanted to enforce it I would have joined a Law Enforcement department/company.

If a simple question cannot be answered, then there is something wrong already... Maybe a guilt feeling..

I saw a father son duo going up the singletrack at Jonkershoek, son was probably about 8 years old, and no helmets for either of them. Great way to teach your son good habits by showing him whats right Confused

No ways the fire was caused by that. There never was any proof. Only a disgruntled car guard's testimony. Which begs the question, if the car guard saw the guy throw the cigarette, and saw it start a fire, then why didnt he put the flame out? The fires in CT smacked of arson. Poor british guy gets blamed and everyone sleeps well at night.

Correct. Now, next time you see a big dumb bouncer chuck his stompie on the curb I wanna see you go up to him, and tell him to pick it up, ok!

If people wanna ride without helmets then let them. WTF difference does it make to you?

I do it all the time, nothing F%$K's me off more than going over OKW and the dick in front tosses a stompie so bring it on.

Makes the same difference to me as commenting on this thread does to you, you clearly need to comment on it so youre kinda hypocritical.
