Convert to Disc brakes

Hi

 

 

 

I'm looking to convert to disc brakes. My frame seems to cater for the caliper fitting, however, will I have to change my wheels to be able to take the discs? If not, how do I attach the disc to my wheel?

if your wheels do no have place for 6 bolts on the one side, it is not compatible and you will have to get new wheels.

Ok, so if it does have place for 6 bolts, do the discs simply screw into them?

yes, you get a disc and 6 bolts in one pack. Remember to get the right adapters to fit the calipers to your frame.

Yup. If it's a Shimano hub it may also have a centrelock spline to fit the disc to, looks like this:

Okay, I doubt very much that the wheels can take discs. So for the fork (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13743) and frame (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13749)you will need a IS to Post adapter to fit 160mm discs. The front and rear adapters are different so make sure.

I think I will contact my lbs and have them worry about the fittings and so forth... They won't be able to fit parts that don't fit...
