some questions re protective gear when riding fourcross-tracks,
trails and stuffs that's kind of in the air, skinny-teeter-totters and the
likes:

what do i need?
full-face helmet?

elbow- and kneeguards?
that's all?

any brands that anyone can recommend?
where do i get those?
anyone got second-hand that they want to sell?
anyone knows about cycling-shops in the area that sells them?

what do i look out for when i buy these stuff?
what works and what doesn't?

Wow! That new bike has made you all hardcore now!

I've got those 661 4X4 knee/shin pads that I actually want to sell. They're great protection (tried and tested that myself Wink), but complete overkill for trials.

Not a lot of people stock protective gear, since it's mainly downhillers that use the stuff. Knee/shin pads are a good start, as well as elbows and wrist guards. I've also heard that compression suits work very well at avoiding injury while being comfortable.

A full face will protect your face if things go really wrong. Try to get a MTB specific one instead of MotoX, since it should be lighter.

Now, the above is for if you're planning on taking serious falls at speed. Are you planning that, or just want to start riding more gnarly stuff? Not sure where you'll find anything more gnarly.

LOL hog it's not about being hardcore ... i was at 'boven the weekend and helped to build some stuff ... well, mainly nailed planks to beams far above my head, while the guys were playing with powertools ... the rimtrail extention also is a little bit more technical than the top bit, probably mainly because of all the erosion - it's almost a downhill course for beginners now, lots of fun, but i want to go faster and the penalty for failure gets a little too high for my comfort ...

can i look at the stuff that you want to get rid of? post a pic?

and where do i get a full-face helmet? what price range? do i order it from crc? if so, how would i know which size, or if it's a proper fit (thinking about how difficult it was to get a comfortable helmet)  is there a brand that you can recommend?

I've only got those knee/shin pads that I want to sell so I can get shin-only pads. The 4X4's are overkill for trials.

I think I was a fullface helmet at the bike park. Maybe have a look?
