my stay in cape town and a few helpfull hubbers!!!

Just thought i would post a quick thank you to a few hubbers which made my stay in cape town a whole load less stressful and somewhat amazing!!!

Firstly Token freak deserves a medal this individual got a frantic call from me on the thursday before the giro was meant to start because as some of you know i was the mechanic for the toyota super cycling team and for this i needed a portable bike stand (i only have a bike stand that weighs close on 100kg's)

having called everyone i knew that had one here in jhb i had run out of options and called TF by chance asking if he could lend me one for the giro... well he could lend me one so we organised to meet at the airport as i landed so that i could meet him and get the work stand, he was there and really made my day!!!!

so the giro went off without a hitch except for me almost losin my finger thanks to a development rider taking out one of my riders rear derailers smiley11.gif Was very scary hanging out of the window at 85km/h down a hill fixing a derailer with a shifting spanner smiley4.gif but i survived WOOHOO

Giro ends on the friday and i pack up and go through to simonstown to be with my wonderful girlfriend before argus and to go through to the expo to collect my number on the saturday

so there i go early saturday morning through to the expo (riding my bike) thinking it would be about an hours ride from simonstown (think again smiley5.gif ) eventually ride for 2.5 hours and end up going on the highway WOW THAT WAS SCARY AS WELL!!!!! smiley36.gif smiley36.gif and end up out of breath and sweaty at the expo

i then stood for a few more hours helping out at the FiT/Louis Garneu stand selling the new FiT supreme bars while showing off the FiT cycling kit and the Louis Garneu custom mould shoes

all is well and i decide to start riding home to simonstown at about 2pm in the dead heat and head wind

(big tip for race day use shallow section wheels!!!!!) but 45minutes into my ride i have run out of water and i am only in newlands by the shell garage so i stop off and get some refreshments and while waiting for a dude on Cape town time (worse than african time because he actually thinks while doing things) when Lo and Behold i hear a certain very familiar voice Shouting TIM....

I get scared and think who is this person??? i dont know anybody in this part of the world!!!

i Turn around and see Msbehavn at the fridge getting a powerade and beaming from ear to ear because she thought she recognised a certain Bianchi outside the door!!!

she then offers me a lift because me in my stubbornness i still wanted to ride home in the heat and wind... Even though she was driving out of her way to drop me off she did it with a smile and i can not thank you enough Regan You rock girl it is thanks to you that i had such a great argus!!!!!!!

so saturday ends and i go to sleep much more rested than i would have been if i had not have seen msbehavn...

I then wake up to an excited girlfriend who hasnt slept because she is so excited about the argus even though she is just driving me to and from and taking pohotos of all us windblown warriors (Thank you Ciara)!!!! so it all starts the preparation has all been for this day feeling great on the morning always helps with the mindset when you get onto the bike!!!

well what can i say other than that was the hardest race of my life BAR NONE!!!!!!!!!!! finished in a shaterred state in just over 3 hours came 39th in my bunch and 193rd overall smiley11.gif couldnt feel my arms for a few days after the race!

so now comes the holiday part of my trip argus done and dusted and some much needed secret training and relaxation awaits me for the week after the argus which all came and went in a blur of 4 hour rides and perfect weather smiley7.gif bloody cape town how can you do this to me after such K@k wind on sunday smiley36.gif

i then met up with the fast group on saturday at cycle lab westlake i am sure some of you saw my thank you post but here goes again

Thanks Skye for organising with Armand and Mat will keep in contact with all of you when i am down there again for more training rides!!

Carlo SG i was shocked to have you recognise me but thanks for the chat and the coffee shop chat as well!!!

all's well that ends well dont you think???? ok so the story doesnt stop there

i left cape town on monday and had organised with Token freak for him to meet me at the airport once again to give the work stand back and i get an sms just after arriving at the airport saying "Tim i am sorry i wont be able to make it but take the workstand as a gift Regards Arno"

Now What Can i Say Other than Arno you really are one in a million i can not say thank you enough because your generosity has helped me realise that with everything that happens in the world on a day to day basis there is always that one person that makes a difference in everyones life that they touch

I owe you bud and if there is anything at anytime that i can do for you then give me a call and i will do my utmost to do it to the best of my ability!!!!!

So here i am back in the land of the living behind my own pc (thank goodness!!!) and back to normality i cant wait to get back to racing and cant wait to help out where i can

Regan and Arno you guys are amazing friends and if you ever need anything just give a shout i am here at anytime!!!!! smiley32.gif smiley32.gif smiley32.gif smiley32.gif smiley32.gif

P.S. sorry for the lack of punctuation and grammatical errors smiley36.gif

I know how hot it was for me driving around in that hired citi golf (which had no aircon Shocked!) so when I saw the Bianchi parked outside the garage shop I couldn't believe someone was crazy enough to ride in that heat!  Little did I know that it was you, turtlek LOL

I'm glad that we could fit your bike into the car and that I could get you back to Simonstown to rest up for Sunday.

You don't need to thank me.  You're a good guy and it was a pleasure to be able to help you out Thumbs%20Up .
