  1. The variety of the trilogy event made it one of the most fun events I have done in a while. After much deliberation as to what bike to ride I settled on my gravel bike. All the stiles were perfectly rideable on the gravel bike and the bit of what I imagine cyclocross would be like through the wet sections was fun. Will definitely enter next year.
  2. I have entered the Trilogy, but can’t decide if I must ride my gravel bike Or put narrower tyres on my Super Caliber. Bit nervous of the A frames on my gravel bike!! Will have no problem with them on my MTB. I have never ridden out there but from some of the pics the gravel looks rough. Anyone got suggestions what will work best. Thanks Dawn
  3. Did the 45k followed the arrows and landed up doing 65k! Wracking my brain trying to think at what point there was a split. ???? Nevertheless a great ride.
  4. Anne Harrison is running mtb skills clinics - group and personal contact her at annharrison@telkomsa.net
  5. I am riding with carbon soled ladies specific specialized road shoes.
  6. Does anyone know what causes hot foot. I rode the DC yesterday and at about 120kms my feet started to burn!! Unbelievably painful. At one point I was standing with my shoes on in the cooler box! I ride with speedplays and carbon specialized shoes.
  7. i didnt want to believe everyone about the 29'er as i loved my little volcan, however one test ride on the 29er and i was sold. My new 29er dual suspension only weighs 200grams more than my volcan (that was without the new tyres) so probably will come in the same weight. The ride is so much more comfortable and makes the technical sections so much smoother although i do think that it might take away some of the challenge as it really does just roll over the technical sections.
  8. The track was awesome, the marshals and the markings exceptional. Thank you Gravel Travel team. Having said that there are improvements that need to be made. Registration, no need to say more. The start of the race at 9 is late for me (kids waiting for me to get home) and then an even later start because of the delays cut further into family time. They set off A-H but this group contained anyone who could get to the front. Perhaps pens with clear boards marking groups should have been set out. Nevertheless I had fun and will back next year for sure.
  9. Thanks, yip cant wait to get back on my bike,,,, i dont care how jet lagged i am.
  10. i have been in Australia for two weeks with a few days left to endure. Have not been able to do any riding or running here and feel like i am going to lose all the benefits of the hard training that i did before i left. Anyone know how fast you lose fitness.
  11. Hi Turtlek, I was on the ride on Saturday, really enjoyed it and thanks for all the pulling into the wind that you did!! You guys were awesome for waiting on top of Ou Kaapse for me. Hope to see you in CT again soon.
  12. Any one know what the wind is going to be like at SA Champs. I have HED STINGERS 60 and really battle with them in the wind. Dont have other racing wheels so in a bit of a panic!! Not that clued up on wheels - anyone know what the best climbing wheel is that is light. My FSA wheels that came with the bike are heavy!! I weigh 58kg.
