Nothing wrong with a Raleigh. But having said that the following should be considered.

Check your budget and then look at what the market has to offer before settling on a Raleigh simply because it looks nice. I believe Raleigh have increased their prices quite considerably for the 2009 range so there may just be something better out there for the same price.

Another thing to consider is that I have ridden 3 different Raleighs and have always felt that they have a "balance" problem. I have spoken to a few other people who have ridden them and they have felt the same way. Try to get one to test ride before making the purchase. Carbon bikes are generally expensive so be sure about it before you lay out the cash.

Hope this helps.

There is nothing wrong with Raleigh, they are built in the same factory as some much more expensive bikes.

Look if you can get a deal on a 2008 bike at lbs or here are a few used ones on the HUb.there 2009 prices are crazy.

In my opinion the RC3000C, RC6000C and RC8000 are way over priced, but look at the RC7000. It is really good value for money.

You get UltegraSL, Kysrium Elite wheels and a really good frame for only R26 000.00. There is nothing to beat it price/quality wise.

If that is too expensive, then check out the Silverback and Schwinn Peleton ranges, they are much better value for money.
