It would seem as if the pistons on the rear brake caliper does not respond as they should. They do not return as quickly as I would have expected. So I have some questions:

1 - Is it ok to split the caliper to clean and lubricate the pistons?

2 - What is the normal return mechanism on MTB hydraulic brakes. You have the spring plate to separate the pads but what is supposed to return the lever and pistons? I do not see any spring mechanism at the lever.

BTW they are Promax.

Before you open it, maybe lubricating the piston from the outside with mineral oil or DOT fluid, depending on what the brake uses.

What brake is it?

Promax and they use DOT. I have tried lubricating them but did not get any positive results.
