bak2basiks Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Ok...I don't want to know what is THE BEST wheel build, but I need advice... I'm considering buying shimano xt hubs and rims for a new wheelset (solid/reliable/light and servicable) but the Hope Pro 2 hubs with their funky colors plus a set of Mavic 717 white/brushed aluminium rims must be an awesome treat for your bike.... I know AC wheels are stronger and better, blah, blah ZTR Olympic blah, blah, DT Swiss, blah,....but any advice and suggestion from THE REAL bike-pimpers....what will make my bike SHINE...? Else, I'll just go for the Toyota (XT wheels and hubs)....

Thumper Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Do you have a colour you want to run throughout your whip? Think about matching your bar ends, seatpost, jockey wheels .... to your hub and rims. Industry 9 are def the most bling. Also look at the crankbros cobalt and iodine wheel sets.
bak2basiks Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 My bike's frame is a shiny silver and I was thinking of adding this beautiful blue...like the Hope 2 hubs color as a theme throughout the bike, with, yes, blue brake rotors, blue jockeys, clamps, spacers, skewers and cable housing...I guess the the silver XT hubs and Silver Mavic XM717 rims will be the cheapest...those crankbros wheels, industry 9 and chris king stuff is maar eina oppi pocket.... I'm not really the type to add R25k 20'' chrome spinners on my Corsa Lite with K&N cone filter....

Thumper Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Recon a silver blue combo will look sweet. Just be careful, not all blue's are the same.Pick a brand and stay with it. Hope is quality stuff. I ran into trouble with my all red KCNC bits.
