All you guys who have ridden the epic. Much written about which shoes to use as race gets more technical and portage legs increase. Do you have any helpful tips as i need to buy a new pair of shoes?

I rode with Spez pro carbon shoes that are supposed to be

stiff with the carbon soles. I had no problems, neither up the long portage on day three nor walking through the sand sections on day 2.

Find out what kind of shoes Mark Fish wore because his "blisters" were so bad that he had to pull out.

also find out what sort of training he did and steer well clear of it because it didnt work!!!!!!!

I ride in louis garneu carbon T Flex shoes and even though they are stiff while you are riding the flex in the toe area works perfectly for walking long distances and doesnt make my toes go numb like other shoes i have previously worn

Buy what fits and is comfortable and stick with it. I had Addidas and Shimano and both worked just fine whenever I had to carry my bike and walk long distance. Addidas has a narrower nose box with Shimano having a very nice large one.

My partner rode with Specialized, also no problem. So all comes down to shoe fitting you and having been walked/ridden in.

My understanding is Mark's issue (similar to Breytons) was new shoes 2 weeks before the race - not his training.

Seriously doubt a guy that has done Cape Oddessy will pitch up under trained!!!!!!!!!!
