Choosing the correct frame size

I am wanting to start Cycling. How do i go about choosing the correct road bike and size? I recenly invested in one but it turns out it was not the right size.

 

Any advice would be appreciated

go to a reputable cycle shop and have yourself measured to see what bike would fit you better or what frame size would better fit you

If it helps..im a newbie at this too and was fitted to a medium hardtail but when I rode a friends small...this shouldve been the size I chose..so now that im looking for a soft tail...I am looking for a small...so really ride the bike you choose in both sizes...
