Hubby and I are currently roadies, but we are looking at

buying our first mountain bikes. We have narrowed it

down to the Silverback - Phoenix, Merida Matts 60-D

and the Matts 100-D. Are these bikes the best bang for

our buck in their price range? What are the important

features to look at? Any other bike suggestions that

might be better will also be looked at. I am so worried we

might buy the wrong bike. We don't want to buy something

now and then find a few months down the line feel we

should have bought something slightly better.

Advice please!!

Well' date=' any suggestions are welcome?[/quote'] Ermm  Watch the "for sale" section 24/7 ?  LOL    The model and make these fundies will have to help you with, all that I know is that these stuff depreciate as quick as cars...

Just my 2c, but I started on an Avalanche AX250 and for R1700.00 at the time I got a pretty good bang for buck.... GT's also got some decent deals..

I could be wrong but the GT Avalanche 3.0's going for around R5500.00 and it's really not a bad bike for starters... there could be better deals out there and good luck with the search Approve..

There's also the GT Avalanche 2.0 which is just one up from the 3.0, going for around R6500.00 to R6900.00 depends where you buy..
