I started cycling last year October after having my torn my ACL (again). I settled on a GT Zaskar Carbon Mtb.

Seven months later I noticed 4 small cracks on the chain and seat stays. I took the bike to the dealer and I was told by the GT rep that they will replace my 2008 frame with a 2009 frame.

I got the frame back the day before the Mabalingwe Lionman. I finished the 35km in 10th place. Yesterday while checking my bike I noticed two small cracks - again on the same place as before.

In the new Ride magazine it is written that on a carbon frame the carbon can flex more than the paint can and thus the cracks MIGHT only be from the paint!

What bothers me is that GT is more than willing to replace my frame again - but the cycle shop charges me R500 for a frame rebuild! It just smells fishy!

Anyway, will do the 45km Monster tomorrow - crack or no crack! Guess we will soon find out if it is just the paint! :-)
