Hope you can give us a review after a test ride this week-end. Would like to hear how it goes.

That Raleigh is a machine.... after Howick yesturday I couldn't believe how well a duel sus went.... goes like a freaking heat seaking rocket after it's target, like it's got a mind of it's own.... really really awesome bike, well worth the R14000 and not being rude but right now I think I'd be mad to ever go back to hard tail.

Glad to hear you are happy with the Raleigh.

As for your comment about never going back to HT, that spoils my day. I am very seriously contemplating going from my Scott MC40 to a nice very light HT. Off topic, but what HT were you riding?

I was riding a GT Avalanche 3.0, yeah I know, starter bike but it went very well for the year and a half of riding it..

I Agree. I could never go back to a hardtail.

It's good to hear about your ride on the Raleigh.

I have ordered a Mongoose Canaan Comp for a testride and should be contacted by the end of the week.

I like you have always ridden a hardtail however I think with those longer races it will be good to have FS.

Took the GT marathon for a ride at Giba recently & was very impressed however it is R40,000 which is almost 3x what I was looking at.

How have you ordered a testride? I have "booked" a canaan comp at greg minaar cycles, but the only test riding I have done is round the parking lot. Would love to take it out for a reasonable ride - even if its only for 1km

p.s sorry to hijack the raleigh report-back smiley2.gif

Yes, I have ordered it through a Durban shop. They unfortunately didn't have my size as I needed a XL so they are getting it via Cape Town.

Said I could take it for a ride once they get, planning on the adjacent park. The smaller size they have is unfortunately a bit small for me.

The GT Marathon is a nice bike hey, had a look at it aswell, but the Marathon 2.0, going for around R18000.00, that obviously must be the aluminium one.... hey when you get your Mongoose we should meet up at Giba one of these days..

Will let you know when the Mongoose arrives, will have to try it out at Giba to see how it compares with my old hardtail. Am intersted to see the Raleigh as well however it is confusing looking at a number of bikes when you are buying........have to just follow the guidance of the bike shop in the end

mmmmmm - maybe all of us with our new goose's and raleigh's should meet up at the Giba Gorge Birthday challenge and decide once and for all which is the better bike smiley2.gif
