I recently talked my fiancee into cycling. I got her a bike which neede a little attention. It has Shimano Sora components all over but needed a front derailleur. The bike shop fitted a 105 deraileur (triple deck) Keep in mind that the shifter is also a triple deck, but it only has a double deck chainring. The problem is that when I shift down the chain keep falling off. How do I repair this?

Take it back to the bike shop? Is FD only avail in triple deck? If not can I fit a double deck FD with a triple deck shifter?

Hope i expressed myself well enough for the clever ones to understand.

I could stand corrected here but this is how i understand it:

the ratchet in the STI could be changed to a double instead of triple.

Otherwise what you can do is to set the screws on the fd that control the range of movement to restrict it from going that far down. Im not sure if the 105's have those screws but i did that on my mtb once to prevent the chain going down to a broken chainring on the way home.

Yip, just set the limiter screws. Bike shop should have done that when they fitted the derailer.

It's actually not difficult at all.
