Hey Guys!!

I need assistance! I'm fairly new on the MTB seen, i'm about to buy a GT Avalanche Expert,The size is large, I'm 1,76 in height. is this bike the right size for me? and if it's not , is it a train smash.

Please some one advise me.

You could even ride a small. better smaller than bigger in the mountain. You will never get the setup correct and struggle with the reach and hurt your back.

I tried it... never again.

I'm pretty sure that bike is gonna be too long for you. YOu should look at something with a virtual/horizontal TT of about 585mm.
Thanks Dudes.

Parra please explain (Something with a virtual/horizontal TT of about 585mm)

Most likely too big. I'm 1.85m and was fairly comfy on a medium Schwinn.

(currently riding a L Commencal FS, but the horizontal top tube length isn't much longer)

Thanks again parra.

I was thinking of reducing the size of the styem.

And the other thing is i have pretty long arms. (Slightly longer reach then normal)

that would probably make a difference?

Changing stem affect handling. the first thing you have to do is get he seat in the right position behind the BB. then you can play with reach.

By BB you mean.....?

the bottom bracket where the cranks attaches to the frame. With the cranks at 3 and 9 o'clock, your knee cap, or just behind the knee cap, should be straight over the pedal axle.
