I have a new Revelation fork on my bike and was testing the fork by going forward slightly and pulling the front brake.

With a loud pop, the left seal on top (where you add positive pressure) dislodged itself and was almost halfway up the stanchion when I looked down.

I pushed it back down and tried best I could to clip it underneath the rim of the lower.

Should I be concerned, or is this part of a new fork?

That fork's left leg has a little bit of oil in the bottom of the slider, then an air void and then on top, the seal. When compressed, the air pressure inside the slider increases slightly and some pressure is put on the seal. Since the difference in compressed and uncompressed air pressure is very little in that part of the fork, special seal retainers are not necessary. Every now and then you'll get a seal that just doesn't have enough meat on it to sit tight and it may pop out.

Push it back in and see if it happens again. If this is a regular occurrence, have someone look at the oil level in there. Too much oil will make the pressure increase a lot under compression and pop the seal.

The good news is that it is an indication that the seal is still airtight around the stanchion....as you would expect on a new fork.
