Solstice Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Hi All I have an opportunity to buy a alu bike with carbon rearstay (dual-suss), no warranty cause its 2nd hand...and I am in two minds about it. Any thoughts?Solstice2009-07-14 11:55:47
Overlord Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 How old is the bike? How well has it been maintained? Is the seller willing to let you take the bike to a reputable shop to have the bike inspected?
WR 1.0 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Bought an alu hardtail with carbon chain stays. Lasted more than a year before I fell and cracked the carbon. Replaced it with a Yeti ASR (with carbon). As far as I'm concerned you just need to check out the bike for any cracks before buying and you should be fine. Also check for reviews on the bike to see if there is any issues.
AndreZA Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 American fs MTBs normally only have a 2 year warranty. And they are not covered in a fall anyway. Get insurance if you are scared it will break.
Solstice Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 Thanks peeps (see me tapping my left shoulder with my right-hand fist?).
