I had a frame replaced (carbon scale) no questions asked, had to wait for an answer from overseas and had to provide my proof of purchase. took about 3 weeks. I thought service was great.tabasco2009-07-16 05:50:02

"lifetime warranty" - I have an issue with this type of warranty! Surely the product is warrantied and not the person who own it? Now what is the products lifetime? To me that is until it life is over i.e. cannot used for the task it was made so when you need the warranty it has just expired!

I think this was successfully argued in a European court some time back and thus the like of Cannodale went to a 5 year warranty as a "lifetime warranty" was deemed worthless.

A warranty is voluntarily given by the manufacturer or seller and the conditions of that warranty are entirely up to them.

Just because you believe it ought to be a certain way will not make it so.

Usually a warranty only applies to the original purchaser as it forms part of the inducement to buy.  There's no good reason for the manufacturer to extend that benefit to a third party e.g. someone buying 2nd-hand.

"Lifetime warranty" can be something of a gimmick because often people dont keep their things for very long & the warranties are not transferable.

I would also guess that lifetime warranty applies more to manufacturing defect as apposed to wear and tear. If there is a failure due to manufacturing defect and it can be proved there is no reason why they should not honour the warranty irrespective of the age of the bike. The norm however is that warranty only applies to the original purchaser.

warrenty is limited to 3 years' date=' so I was told by Willie when I bought carbon Scott in Jan this year.[/quote']

then it is for the new models. They can not change the warrantee after a few years. What they can do is change the warrantee on the new replacement and bring it to the attention of the owner.
