How does these chainsuck protectors work?

I have had 4 chainsuck events in half an hour in Grabouw last weekend. Me very unimpressed and my new carbon frame bearing the nicks...

So I turn to the web (new chain and crank, so must be mud?) and this is what I found:

http://www.cambriabike.com/shopexd.asp?id=20867&page=TEKTRO%20102A%20CHAIN%20SUCK%20DEVICE

But I can't really figure out how it will work and if they are avail locally...

Interesting. What does it bolt onto?

What happens when it does indeed such the chain? Is the chain forced off or do you still have a sudden stop, but no damage to the frame?

I just google'd it... never had chain suck with my rohloff !

That's such a windgat statement. (But I like it).

Right - so not the best tool on the market...

Anyone got anything that works? Apparently if I want to go the chain guide option, I need to lose a chain ring, which I don't want to do.

Why is the chain not on any of those chain rings

It is, you just can't see it. The chain is on the left, cut out of the picture. Suck happens on the chain exit side of the chainwheel.

A few years ago I saw an advert for a spray-on product called Chain Unsuck. The payoff line was "'cause chainsuck sucks."

However, the advert was placed on a website..on the first of the fourth month.

Your frame should have some type of metal plate on the side of the stay, my GT does.

It should help prevent damage ?  Or was it more on top where theres no protection from the plate?
