rear brake shudder problem

Recommended Posts

Can try removing the pads and sanding them a little with maybe 100 grit sand paper. Could be glazzing, also could be the rotor is not in the best condition. You could try rotating front rotor to rear and visa versa.

When sanding brake pads always put your paper on a flat surface and sand the pad as flat as possible to form the surface parralel to the original one. You will see when taking it out after use that it is probably not straight which can give you an indication of your pad-disc contact point.

I also keep a spare pair of resin pads and put these on when I have braking issues. It helps give the disc a nice clean without spraying and all that crap. Put my sanded ones back on and ensure proper setup (tighten all bolts very patiently a little at a time) and there is normally no problem afterwards.

You can also try cleaning the rotor braking surface with an alcohol pad like they use for cleaning glasses. I have had success with those. Sometimes fingermarks and the like on the rotors can cause that .......
