I have a pair of Hayes So1e disc brakes and the front Master Cylinder Bleed Plug popped out and obviously all the brake fluid ran out.

So now I have to get a replacement plug and to refill with Hayes brake fluid.

I have been told that this can only be done by Hayes in PE. It's really not worth paying to get it there and to repair. Anyone that knows how to repair these brakes in Joburg area that has this plug and can refill the brakes so I can sell them on the HUB? Anyone know what they worth?

I had these on my old bike.

I popped the hydrolic pipe on SANI2C last year - could not get fixed on the race, but on returning, Fritz Pienaar fixed (in Petervale)

Don't know what they are worth, as I sold with my bike

Hi

Funny you should say that cos my plug literally blew out on Day 3 Sani2C - of all days - so didn't enjoy the downhills like everyone else with no brakes. I guess just too much harsh braking for the poor Hayes So1e!

Thanks for the heads up on Fritz, just round the corner from me so will pop by and see if they can help.

Pleasure - mmine went on Day 2 - down the switchbacks - learnt that the fluid is flammable when hitting a hot disk - made for some fun....

Anyway, did from there to the finish on day 3 with no front brakes.

Well I had no brakes at all. Rear brake pads went on Day 2 going down the Umkomaas valley - just POP and no grip. no So1e pads available so only front available on Day 3 and then blew out the plug in the sugar cane fields - brake fluid everywhere. So used my shoes as brakes and wore them down to the inside. Not Fun.
