If you are close enough to the edge for your spoke to hit that part you're a ball hair away from falling off anyway. I wouldn't think its an issue.

Riding on a roller takes some concentration. Riding off it on accident will happen sooner or later. Its no big deal, few scuff marks on the carpet and you?re going again. But hitting that thing will cause one hell of an accident.skaduwee2009-08-14 02:07:52

Your front wheel runs on top of the front roller, so there's no way even the tire will make contact with that pulley - unless you're in the process of falling.

Oh. I've never actually gone off the side of my rollers. I did once jump off the front of them somehow. Not sure how i managed that though.

That?s a good answer. It wouldn?t hit the spoke at all your right, the only maybe flaw to this is if you happen to ride off the roller by accident and your wheel goes in between the roller and the resistance add-on. But it doesn?t think it would even be an issue.

Where would I be able to get my hands on a similar set of rollers and roughly how much would I be looking at forking out?

You should have a look at the TACX Roller EcoTrack. They are the basic version of the TACX Antares roller shown above. One of these would retail close to R2000.

Or for almost twice the money you can get the TACX Antares roller with only main usefull difference is that the bars can slide into eachother to pack away easily.

Can you change resistance?

I take it you have not done a session on rollers?  Big%20smileWink

It WILL kill you even without resistance!  Wink

Do you really spin that much??

My first rollers were the EcoTrack which I picked up on hub for R400' date=' while the Antares I bought new from my favorite LBS for R2100 (I might be 100 bucks off either way :) ).

The only way you could wedge wheel between the resistance device and the rollers is when you ride of to the side. By that time you will be in free fall situation, so it will stay there just for a short time.

Some other brands of rollers have little wheels positioned on the edges of front rollers to preven riding of to a side.

My rollers are in for a warranty claim. Real pity as I realy enjoyed them. So, for all of you Antares users, wait for the outcome of this before you rush and mount the resistance device as I have done - it might invalidate your warranty.

I dont see how the resistance device could add/cause the cracks. Maybe I am to heavy or spend to much time on those (some 3k to date).
