Some sub-3 facts for the 2008 Argus:

Of the 28' date='315 officially timed finishers, 1721 finished under 3hrs.

6 people in I group were sub-3, noone starting after them made it (although some were within a minute or two)

A sub-3 gave an 18 seeding index.

An 18 seeding index is roughly a 2:39 for 2009 Dome2Dome, 2:55 for 2009 Telkom Satellite and 2:44 for 2009 94.7.

Certainly usefull info thanks, so chaces are that you would not be able to do a sub 3 if you start after I?

Or at least it will be very difficult?

Wherecan I expect to start(based on your knowledge), I see on PPA I have a seeding of 16 sometjing which falls in Group E.

My times for D2D - 2:39, Telkom 2:52, 94.7 - 2:46

So the trick to getting into the top 10 in you group is probably to start as far back as possible?

Not sure how impressive it sounds if you came first in group XX though...

Yip, in later groups, there's fewer people who can help and you're also negotiating traffic. If you start in I there are already 3700 other seeded riders in front of you (nevermind licenced groups). That's more than all the timed finishers at Telkom and D2D combined.

My times and index last year were similar to those and I got put in C group.

  • 2 weeks later...

My tactics are:

1. Spend as much time in the Saddle as possible.

2. Rest as much in between.

3. Make friends with the hills in my area - TiekieDraai, Vissershok, Helshoogte.

4. Have one helping of good food at a time. About 6 times a day.

5. Go out when it is windy as God's breath can be howling on the day - then I am used to it.

The Cycle Tour is the biggest timed cycling event in the world. Gotta be there! Going for my 3td one in 2010.

Because if no one replys on your message / post it falls down the page and other new or old messages will take its

place.

If you keep your message up on the top of the page, it is easier for everyone to notice your message, you should get a wider response.
