So, i left my house this morning with no electricity - and added to the fact that my water pressure is next to non-existent and the municipality has been trying to fix it for the last 6 months - and our rates have just doubled - and a I give these jokers a few grand every month....why do we put up with it!!!

If we "strike" and don't pay they just turn us off, so how can we make them accountable?

whew, got that of my chest!

A few years back I did a project in Greater JHB where we checked the condition of all water mains. We used Hydrophones and ground scannin Radar. We foundquite a few substatial large water leaks. Some of them draining without being noticed for many years. I remember one up on the hill in Aucklandpark and one close to Edgars UQ at Crown mines that were LARGE and draining straight into the stormwater system. The greatest contributor to water loss though was the tiny drips at the glands that connects your water meter. We did some measuremenst and calculated that if all those drips were stopped by proper maintenance the Jukskei would stop flowing!!!!!!!

And I reckon every second one up our street drips!
