Over the weekend I opted to do the 10km fun ride with my wife and kids. The route went down Luneville rd, which is a rather busy road, especially on a Saturday morning.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

What really gets to me though, was how many children started the ride/race without helmets. I counted 6 of them at the back of the field. That did not include those that raced to the front and disappeared into the distance. The entry form clearly stated ?No helmet, no ride.? Two questions come to mind.

Why did the organisers allow them to start?

Why did their parents allow them to start?

It is irresponsible of both the organisers and the parents to allow children (some as young as 5 years old) to ride on a busy road, helmetless.
