mmm very interesting. the exact same thing has happened to my 305 unit.

I plug it in to my pc after several rides, download the routes, leave it on to charge. In a short while it says charge process complete, I disconnect, and its DEAD. wont even switch to the welcome screen.

Then after about 24hours when I switch it on, I get the welcome screen, but the battery is completely flat. and the procedure starts over. Sometimes it charges, and sometimes it goes dead again.

I took it to Garmin in North Riding this afternoon, and the young lady behind the counter also couldnt get it switched on. I explained that it had been doing this since november last year, and that I had lost use of the unit in day 2 of this years Sani2C, but she was disinterested, and told me my unit now was outside itswarrenty period. I assume this is 2 years, so I seem to have missed the cut off by a month. I left there feeling quite annoyed with the 'couldn't really care less' attitude I was shown, and more annoyed in that I was told I would have to Cough up a further R1000 for a replacement.

This ERROR in the unit most certainly was not of my making, and it seems to have happened to others too. There must definitely be some problem in the design/usb link.

I have lost a lot of faith in Garmin since this afternoon. I do hope one of their representitives is reading this and can comment further.
