My RaceFace EvolveXC Crank Drive Arm has play on it even though everything is tight.

Apparently a common problem due to spindle wear.

Has anyone had experience with trying to 'rebuild' the spindles with J-B weld?

Or perhaps have another remedy?

I've got a set with the same issue. From what I've been told it's from an incorrect installation first time out, and it's poked...

If you want to epoxy it together go mad, but I don't think it's the best idea... if you ever need to replace your BB you'll have to saw the crank off. Rather save yourself the trouble and get Shimano or SRAM IMO.

I hear you droo

But I was wondering (with my total lack of mechanical expertise) what would happen if for instance I coated one of the parts with grease and the other with J-D weld (epoxy) if I could perhaps save the crank at least until the chain rings are done, and still be able to service the BB!

Otherwise its glue the thing together and ride until either bb or rings are totally shot!!

I have my reservations' date=' but if you're willing to try it, let me know how it goes...[/quote']

Got some Pratley Steel - R40 odd, will let you know!

Anybody else with advice?

Hi, not sure what type of play you have on the drive side - but have you checked if you have the right amount of little nylon washers on the drive side between the crank and bb?

Should be 2 there I think?
