I was given a splendid gift by someone last week, it's the movie 24 Solo.

I watched this on Sunday evening and I have to say it was an immensely sobering experience.

In all the years I have done this event and thinking of the times I have walked up to the podium and the half hearted attendance at prize giving, a few thoughts occurred to me, but the two that stood out the most was that the sport is not taken serious enough, everyone seems to look at x-country and marathons or stage races to be the pinnacle of mountain biking, well let me just say that 24 hour MTB is the pinnacle of the sport.

The second thought is that we never really pass on out gratitude to the organizers.

Dimitri, I need to thank you for taking the initiative to start this in South Africa and your team to name a few, Chris, Glen, Craig and Loti.

I wish you all the success with your 10 th. year and may this be the most successful one to date.

Yeah, it's a cool movie, keep a close watch and you might even see my SA flag hanging up in my tent as the leaders came through.

It was awesome to watch this battle unfold, that Aussie was crazy, he didn't look it a few days before though.

What that video doesn't show is how supremely technical that course really is.
