How. do I know if my crank bearing is going?

<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The last few rides I had, it sounds like something is clicking on the inside of the crank. I have lubed the pedals since the local cycle shop said that the pedals bearings might be dry. The noise is still present.

Any advice please?

Hi there,by crank bearing do u mean the bottom bracket?Usually a clicking sound is sign of a worn BB,you would have to replace it or service and clean it ,depending on the type of BB and/or condition..

The only way to say for sure without opening the BB up, is to remove the chain, spin the crank and put your ear against the frame somewhere. You'll here a shhhhhhh sound for a healthy bearing and a rrrrumble for a sick bearing.

Click sounds come from dirt trapped between BB and BB shell threads. The only cure is to remove, clean, apply whatever muthi of your choice and re-install. It may or may not return again, depending on what dirt gets pulled in there by the water.

Poor bearings don't cause click sounds. Clicks come from healthy or sick BBs.
