Racing through Northern farms yesterday in my dehydrated hallucinating state I saw a seagull. The seagull reminded me of the book "Rhyme of the ancient mariner" In it there is a line that goes "Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink" I finally got what the book was on about. It is a major moment in ones life when one starts considering drinking and swimming around in manure water. These desperate thoughts came about through the fact that a well known bike shop sponsors a race  where logistically speaking it would be the least problematic to arrange 5 or 6 water points on the route. Instead they deem it necessary to have only one "water point" that gets passed twice on the route and that the so called water point lacks the magic ingredient - H20.

What a bunch of ............................. (fill in your own expletives)

I enjoyed the race. No water problems for me though -  3l Camelbak and (man) bear (pig) the brunt of all the hatch back jokes. Problem with me though is that the hang over I thought I had is showing more and more symptoms of swine (bear pig) flu and I've been feeling progressively worse since Friday, going to have it checked out at zero nine hundred hours todey.

Came, rode and went thirsty.  Honestly , a great course and really demanding, But to have one water point ,which lacks the magic ingredient is piss poor.  Prize giving also a fiasco with most contestents opting for home rather than wait for the field to finish before prizes handed out.

I might just have to give this one a miss next year unless organisation is jacked up a whole lot
