Cyclist down yesterday - KwaMhlanga Road

Any idea what happened yesterday?! My wife saw two cyclist down at the intersection of Zambezi & KwaMhlanga Road. Look like the group itself had at least 6 people in it.

Ambulance also just arrived when she drove past the scene.

Went passed just after it happened. It was actually one rider on a Bianchi. Light was green for rider and driver coming from opposite directions, and driver turned right in front of him with his BMW. Rider quite badly injured (looks like back and hip and a LOT of roasties!) and Bianchi completely written off. The BMW has a lot of damage as the cyclist hit the fender, bonnet, broken windshield and roof crompled up to the sunroof .....

Police and ambulance responded very quickly. BMW driver stood around very relaxed whilst the paramedics was working on the cyclist lying in the street bleeding ......

btw, is this in KZN or where? Judging from sorelegs post I would assume in Tswane area.

Yea Tswane Its a crap intersection as well, rode it for 2 years every day on my motorbike wasnt fun.

The famous.... or infamous Moloto Road intersection. Full of busses and taxis going to KwaNdebele and Cullinan - Mamelodi. In 1995 we did a traffic study and 350 000 people travelled the route into Pretoria and back to KwaNdebele every day. A procession of Putco busses that almost never stops. We used the road for training over weekends when there was less traffic. Must be crazy to cycle there during the week. Oops!!!! Yesterday WAS weekend!!!!!Big H2009-09-28 09:22:55
