Greetings,

I am putting together an order at CRC for bits & bobs to complete my first road bike build on the nice CAAD5 frame sourced here. I decided to go with new SRAM groupset, but on CRC it seems one has to select the bits & pieces, which I had mostly figured except for the crank/chainset. ?The one I want is the SRAM Force GXP ?http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13072 ?- there are a ot cheaper but this looks like a good investment, yeah and the carbon bling factor cannot be dismissed.

The thing I cant figure is out is wether this includes a BB and spindle. 'help' there didnt get back to me. ?Guys (and gyrls) please help me out with some advice here what to get. The frame has ?68mm 'English' ?- there's a lot of BB options. I am just looking for quality and endurance .?

Thanks in advance.

I ordered the exact same Crankset from crc it is a excellent crank looks amazing, even better than on the picture and very stiff.  I also had problems figuring out from the description whether it comes with a BB or not.  So I e-mailed them and they replied that it does not come with the BB.  I ordered the Truvativ GXP BB Cups. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

When my order came I was very surprisedShocked to Find two BB sets one that comes with the crank and one that I ordered ekstra. (The BB that comes with the crank is the 68mm, English thread.)

Thanks numbnuts, the description hints about that, and gives the option of oversize bb. Guess I will assume that it does then. ?What type of spindle does it use then?

It is a hollow axle BB system which is splined differently than shimano hollow axle BB's (bigger splines), and I understand It is not the same size axle as Shimano.  <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The Sram force GXP chainset only works with the Truvativ/Sram GXP BB their are two tipes of bearings the normal and ceramic Bearing.

The crank comes with the GXP Team BB (ceramic) Which on its own would cost +/-R1500 so the crank really is a bargain.

When you buy crank it has everything you need to install it except tools. Don?t really understand the spindle question but hopes this helps.Big%20smile

Firstly...... bicycles are NOT an "investment"..... it ois normally BLING to soothe your ego.

Secondly...... you must make DEAD sure you order the correct items as "omruil" will cost you an arm and a leg.

Thirdly phone them in Ireland...... they may speak a funny iengliesh but they do understand you, they are not on another planet.

Fourthly ....... go to local bike shop and check the BB and cranks out to make sure you order right!!!!!!!  ...... duck run for cover!!!!!!!!!
