so the guide says rinse under running water after each use........ok so I missed rinsing it a few times for some reason....so my question is do you have any suggestion to get that sweaty smell out without harming the functionality?

Washing machine or hand wash with washing powder. Running water won't get rid of the oils from your sweaty bod that become impregnated into the fabric.

works fine - I assume it is one of the newer Polar straps? Clip off the plastic unit and wash with your other kit.

It will be fine in the washing machine. I was told by the Polar importers that this is the best way to wash it.

The other thing they told me is to disconnect the strap from the transmitter whenever it's not being used. This prevents the contacts from getting corroded. It's also a good idea to wipe down/dry the contacts after every use.
