Cleaning the Cable Guide?

So what is the best way to clean the cable guide underneath the bottom bracket? Shifting of the FD became sticky due to energy drink spillage I reckon.

 

 

 

I am thinking, toothbrush hot water and lube up afterwards?

Don't lube it, dirt is just gonna pack up there again and the cycle (intended) continues. Just clean with warm soapy water and toothbrush. Remove the cable if you can.

cool, ill try and clean as far as i can without removing the cable, until i am home next week and have all my tools at hand, just to make me feel better in case i need them
