The only explanation can be a sliding rear axle. With horizontal drop-outs, you need an incredible amount of force to hold the wheel in place. Ideally you need an axle with track nuts, but a good skewers, such as Shimano or Campag, can also do the trick. Don't expect poofter after-market skewers with external camps on plastic sliders to do the trick.

If he is using the DMR kit the its not a horizontal dropout frame. But something is moving. Either the QR isnt tight enough or the bolt that connects the tensioner to the dropout is loose. Mud Dee2009-10-28 05:58:34

Dont start out with the tension to high. Just keep it tight enough. The tension is never the same all around the pedal stroke. If its to tight at some point it will push the tensioner down and you'll loose tension
