Frame Repair

i was wondering: if it happens that someone get's a crack on a aluminium frame is it really worthit to to get it fixed?

 

and if u do fix/weld is it going to last?

Eish that is a bad crack. What frame is it?

mmmm well not completely sure how that works and whom to contact?

 

and if i were to try and fix it out of my own pocket, would it be worthit and like i said would it last?

well, if you are the original owner and have the receipt, then just take it to the shop where you purchased it. They will fight and say that your seatpost were too far out. Give it a bash and maybe you can get a '09 or maybe a '10 frame.

I'd say, begin with your LBS. They'll know who the importers are. My experience is that the importer/ distributor will replace your frame, provided it is obvious the damage is not caused externally ie a crash or something similar. In this case it seems clear the damage is on a welding joint.

Not many people who can weld alu, I'd try my best to have it replaced. Perhaps you're lucky & get new 2010!

well i guess it is worth a try. i was more that willing to get it fixed if it is possible.

I think if you fix it the area you repair is then very strong...but that moves the load to somewhere else and then it cracks there...

 

By the time you have finished repairing it you could have bought my orbea frame for R1000.
