Front shock "bottoming out"

Hi guys,

 

I have an older generation Rockshox SID (model just before they put on the lockout). 

 

Lately it seems to "bottom out" and stop after 20-30mm of compression, and I think it has 60mm travel.  There is also very little rebound regardless of how I change the + and - pressure.

 

Does it just need a good service or is it poked?

 

Would appreciate your advice...

If you don't have it serviced, it will be poked. Chances are there is so much gunk in there and the oil looks like peanut butter.

 

I've seen plenty of forks ruined through lack of service. They hang in my workshop like trophies.
