Darnijl, if you're looking at making freinds then maybe a change in tact is required??

 

As to your problem.

 

You're right the coil is made out of steel and therefore can't be anodised, which if it were titanium or aluminium would be the obvious solution.

 

Powder Coating creates quite a brittle finish so I would not go that route either as the continuous compression would cause the finish to flake off.

 

I would buy an automotive spray paint, K2 I think its called, and spray it on after applying a primer. I don't imagine it to be a permanent solution but I reckon it'll do for a few months at which point you can simply re apply.

If I look at motorcycle coils, aren't they powdercoated ?

 

 

 

I definitely would think that with all the compression and expansion of the coil, normal car paint (Dura-K, etc) would eventually crack.
