After the disapointment of the Rock Shox Recon Solo of ct ride not being compatible with V brakes, I made a turn at CWC, only to bump into Steven who took me under his wing. I then made the impulse buy of the Dart 3 with Remote Poplock (for what I think is a good price.) Shock is still brand new, but not being so up to date with Mtb components, I'm under the impression that it is not such "new" shock, being a few years old in design( right or wrong?)

I'm going to fit it to my old banger, a Schwinn Mesa with currently a Suntour XC60 fitted, so it definately is a better shock.

What I want to know, how good is the Dart 3, what problems can I run into (if any at all)

How good a buy was this? (mistake or not?)

The design may be old but works well if properly maintained, it is a basic fork with basic internals, on the plus side it is fully sserviceable and replacement parts are not to hard to come by and relatively inexpensive,  as the importer does have stock.

the down side, heavy and could get sticky but that can be cure with a good quality suspension grease and maintanence

Worst problem i have encountered is a guy breaking a plastic clip that hold the dampner seal in place but don,t worry he jumped the fork and it took a hit much harder than a cross country rider ever will, the parts to replace the lock out (manual though) the clip, the seal and the rebound, wasn't expensive at all I can't remember the exact amonut but it was definately inexpensive

It is better than the suntour so enjoy the rock shox

Way better than the suntour in terms of maintainability and performance. Dont sweat it too much, just ride it till it breaks and then look for something else.

Yeah, hopefully I can then upgrade the WHOLE BIKE, with something like the Merida One-Twenty or something similar.
