Hijacking opposite Northern Farms

On 16 dec  I too was bike jacked just outside northern farm. I can describe the location better as the tar road leading south over the highway . I was stopped by three gun wielding chaps who drag me down the embankment and stuck a gun to my head, knee in back and kept one trained on me from front. They proceeded to frisk me and tried to aggravate me by grabbing my privates. They took everything bar my socks and cycling kit. I was one my own , returning from long MTB ride, had completed 65km.

I got worried when they dragged me into bushes where we were totally out of site. I took the opportunity and jumped through bushes and ran 1km into northern farm.

Luckily I can tell the tale. Sadly there is no security at northern farm that could respond.

The gang where organised as they made a call for a vehicle to collect them
Northern farm bikers are not safe and neither is riding approaching the location.

They stole :

Yeti MTB, black in colour. XT componets, SramX0 rear derailler, Mavix rims and HUBs , Fiziki seat

Really guys, it's unfortunate but I think for the time being no-one should ride there(outside NF) if possible, it just seems to unsafe, specially for individuals and ladies !

 

But we as cyclist must do something about the this, the police are understaffed and payed and this is a minor issue to them.  Some kind of neighbourhood watch or something.

The patrols are active from 06:30 to 16:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.

PM Yang as a lot of these stolen bike land up up North. He's recovered a few bikes up there (Mozambique)

 

Sorry to hear about the thefts- the experience must have been frightening. I've been away on holiday and there don't seem to be any new bikes here that I've seen since I came back. But I will post if anything comes up.

read the articles in the fourways gazette... there have been three articles recently and all of them say that the police say they will give them a case number... and thats about it... they are not taking this seriously... are they waiting for someone to get killed first.... this is crazy....
