Maxxis Aspen tyres ?

Hi Guys

 

Saw these on the net a while ago and forget about them, now I've seen them in the new Treadmag.

 

Any idea of pricing and availability ?

Weight looks good for a 2.1 with some decent knobs @ 475g.

 

Any one used them or read a goor review I can check out ?

thanks for the link. they look quite lekker. and they should retail for a shade under R400.

They are lekker. Found them surprisingly grippy for their weight. Can't run them too low, but once you find the psi sweet-spot it's all good.

how much did you get them for? you ever ridden ignitors? got a set at home i want to put one my ss.

They were on a bike I was riding, so not sure of their cost.

 

 

 

Rode Ignitors on a Felt Virtue demo bike for about 6months and liked them. Tried them with a Crossmark on the back and it was a cool combo for XC / Light Trail.

 

 

 

They do however loose ALL grip at the sight of anything slippery. Not good for Jonkers in the winter...

 

 

 

But for summer's dust and even mud they are fine. Just not clay, wet roots or green rocks.

BTW, I put the Ignitor back after a ride or two with the Crossmarks. The Ignitors have much better grip for trail riding.

 

 

 

Under hard braking the XM will skid for nothing whereas the Ignitors will offer some form of grip.

Funnily enough they clear mud quite fast. LUST or super tacky compound might be better than the std non-ust version, but like you said, maybe for now stick to what you know.

kewl, thanks. luckily i have two sets of wheels for the singlespeed. still have a brand-new set of the discontinued explorers. they manage ok in the mud.
