Squishy Thingy Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Thanks you all. and thanks tedi my dear. we heard about the linksfield route but we couldn't find the entrance or we probably weren't looking properly. i suppose i could add about the distance part. i don't want to sound like a roast chicken but if there are excessively terrains involved distance and speed might become a problem. like i said i have the fitness level of a sloth. especially with a bike.
Tumbleweed Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 hate to be a killjoy, but please try ride with more peeps that just you and the boyf. bikejackings are on the up. also try groenkloof. stick to the jeep tracks. the climbs aren't too hectic, and it's a very safe environment.
Tuxstir Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 we'll try holy roller.when we ready and a little more know in the community i think we'll see if we can organize a group ride somewhere ... just a pitty jhb doesnt have the trails like back at my folks lol. but i'm sure jhb and its enviroment has plenty to offer.. but for now i think we'll jion the edenglen cyclists..

Tuxstir Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 lolwell.. in 10 years i'm on my 6th helmet...3 destroyed while having meetings with cars... i've been using bike as transport in jhb to get to work and back since 2000 and end of 2007 got my car... so i've as my mom says' i've got fat....its now getting back in the saddle and enjoying lifes little adrainlain rush.so i know all about lie downs.... had way to many in my youth.. it was tottally mispent one
Tumbleweed Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 yeah, also had issues with cars. the worst was turning a taxi's emergency exit into an emergency entrance!lost 13 teeth in that one! problem is i sometimes act like i'm still in my youth! but have realised that my body isn't 16.

Everest Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Hey tedibear The Edenglen guys meet at the Grand Slam parking lot in Dowerglen around 6am on Saturdays. Most of the guys cycle to the parking lot and we normally grab a cup of coffee afterwards. All the routes are in and around Edenvale, Linksfield, Modderfontein. Sometimes we ride out to O.R. Tambo and do part of the Emperors Palace route and other times we drive out to Rietvlei in Alberton. If there are novices with us we will point out some of the not so easy parts of the ride.
