Earlier this afternoon I was attacked and robbed at the bottom of the

Falls, accessed past Delville Wood Station. (S29 50.080 E30 43.383).

Two fine examples of indigenous youth. Saw them lurking near my car,

but we greeted each other in a casual fashion. However, as soon as I

was in the car and the engine started they smashed driver's side window

and pulled my right arm thru' and backwards, cutting my forearm on the

shattered glass. Despite my resistance, they forced the door open and I

was hauled out.

At that point I realised the amount of blood I was losing and gave up

the fight. They ransacked the car; took phone, camera and cash. Left my wallet, ID and cards behind.

So guys be careful in that area. I've been there plenty of times (by

car and bicycle) before without incident, was I just a statistic

waiting to happen?

Yes, I was alone.

No 2 specimen kept saying "dont fight, keep cool". No 1 kept asking "where's the money?" I only had R7 in change :-)

Won't bother reporting to the police, not sure I'd keep my temper.

Hospital visit planned for tomorrow morning once the swelling has

receeded.

PVC tape is holding the flesh nicely in place for now and I'm not brave enough to try removing it!

Holy sh*t - get to a hospital ASAP. Sorry to hear what happened to you!

Really sorry to hear that this is happened, but you need to get to a hospital. And please report this to Hillcrest SAP, the guys there are really good (I used to work there) and will do their level best. By reporting you may just help prevent another attack on someone else! If you don't come right at the police station just pm me.

Dude don't ride out there by yourself ever again, way more happens there than the general public is aware of. If you wanting some partners then head on over to www.mtbiker.co.za where there are a number of Durban riders registered.

@Dirtbreath Shongweni is just outside Durban off the N3.

MartynS, sorry to hear.

I rode there in the morning but in a group. We actually mentioned the fact that it is dangerous to be out there on your own.

Loads of guys seem to ride from Giba out into that area, so maybe start from there.

Heal well.

But Delville Wood is a bit dangerous.. what goes around comes around, I'm sure those buggers will get what's coming to them sooner or later..

MartynS that's dreadfull and I hope you have already been to have that arm seen to and reported the incident it really is important.

What area of Shongweni is that? Anywhere near Shongweni Dam? We ride at the dam quiet often that's why I'm asking.

Feel better soon and don't let them get away with thisOuch

Hi you go past the left turn to go to dam. in between there and Summerveld t/off you turn left into the cane and go down into the valley and cross the railway line at Delville Wood station. you follow the road through an old tunnel and end up at the waterfall. Ya lived on a small farm at top of Shongweni before you go into the valley. Riding alone is not advised especially in the valley. Up top on the right next to summerveld is not bad especially riding through summerveld is cool and ending up at Assgai. Hope you get well soon. (get the cut looked at)
