  1. No thread/event post for 2026? ðŸĪ”
  2. Weather on Sunday looks good, but might be some rain early on Saturday. 👀
  3. Thanks! I don't see that on the event page: https://www.entryninja.com/events/83081-filthy-fondo-malmesbury 🙈
  4. Number Collection: From 06h30 on the morning of 12th April 2026 at Malmesbury Showgrounds
  5. R.I.P. 😭
  6. Absolute knobhead.
  7. R398 and I'll inflate your tires "for free" ðŸĪŠ
  8. This makes my blood boil. ðŸ˜Ą
  9. Agreed. Especially when wearing bike shop kit *cough* John O'Connor Cycles *cough*
  10. That wind was tough (lack of fitness/training didn't help) compared to last year. ðŸ˜Đ Looks like about 545 sub 3s this year vs 963 last year, which makes me feel a bit better. 😅
  11. If I could've paid to have my number couriered to me, I would have. Almost 3 hours spent driving to and from Cape Town today. ðŸ˜ą Excluding the (pointless to me) expo where you're forced to walk the entire thing. Hoping to spend less time cycling on Sunday. 😜
  12. Agreed – shocking, considering the same happened to me outside Cloetesville in September last year. And, yesterday I actually went out for a ride on the road by myself (first time since I was mugged and bike-jacked), for some CTCT final bike checks. 😠 I was on the opposite side of the road, though, about 2 hours later, oblivious to the above. ðŸ˜ą And there I was thinking how "safe" it felt heading towards Somerset West from Stellenbosch and how much I missed going out for rides on my own. From the WA group: "Blocked him in the yellow line with a knife, so he couldn't swerve out because of traffic."
  13. 😊 Shared with permission from a local club WhatsApp group: "Good evening! Yet another heads-up to be careful out there. One of my friends got robbed of his Cannondale gravel bike this morning at 07:30 on the R44 opposite Val de Vine. He is ok, thankfully! It is a grey Lab 71 bicycle. I'll forward a picture of the frame, just in case something pops up somewhere." That's just outside of Stellenbosch, heading towards Somerset West. https://maps.app.goo.gl/isBsxZs6R5pS6kdd7
  14. Holy ****, this is ridiculous. Taxpayers really getting it from both ends.
  15. I must say that I don't hate the large font as much as I would have a few years ago. 👀
  16. The Trilogy was a blast. First time doing it (done the road race many times). Bit too much tar for my liking, but it sure helped with a fast avg. speed. The Durbie Dash gravel also used that Spes Bona road (in and out). Absolutely brutal. The other gravel was fine. Not quite "champagne" quality like in Caledon last weekend. ðŸĪ The "mountain bike" section was actually fun on a gravel bike. Wasn't expecting to see mud at this time of the year. Those enormous black cows were impressive. And the marshals at the "dangerous" bits were super useful. No unexpected surprises. Really well organised as always. ✌ïļ Just waiting for my McDonald's delivery so I can start my recovery... 😂
  17. No. https://mybroadband.co.za/news/broadcasting/628012-huge-blow-to-dstv-in-south-africa.html ðŸ˜Ē
  18. Yup, I got the email. Kenilworth is 1.5x further for me, hence my post.
  19. "Important Note: There will be no number collection or late entries on race day." Sigh, having to drive to Durbanville twice in a few days for a race sucks.
  20. I'm still trying to get the dust out of my eyes (and everything else) 😂 That was a proper tough route in the heat and headwind, etc. Stoked to have finished it. But yeah, I feel sorry for the okes who had mechanicals (or other issues) along the route. It looked pretty lonely out there. I think that was part of the reason I took it a bit easier, just didn't want any issues, and valued finishing in one piece.
  21. Thanks, that's useful. I was surprised by the total elevation. ðŸŽĒðŸšĩ‍♂ïļ
  22. GPX was sent yesterday – route looks identical to Dirty DC. Having never ridden there, any feedback from those who have? Surface, climbs, anything to be aware of. 😎
  23. It's a public road... it's not like the "amateur" broke into private property to disturb a training camp or something? If he hadn't crashed, this wouldn't be a news story.
  24. Stellenbosch, again: Kayamandi and Cloetesville â˜đïļ https://www.facebook.com/100045542240777/posts/pfbid087CrQwLRtGnGHX6BcCg4S8eUYDQxhTnKdm2GF27o6VLVZzBGt7vrLvxsXt5Cc62Wl/?app=fbl
