I am looking at changing my mtb tyres from the current Crossmax and monotrails to Swalbe Racing Ralphs.

The issue I have is that  the 2.25's will be too wide on my back wheel (I don't have much clearance and I will have problems in muddy conditions).

My questions are:

1. Is there an issue with running a 2.25 on the front and a 2.1 on the back?

2. Where is the bigger benefit of running wider tyres? The back / front ?

Thanks

I usually run wider tyres as the higher air volume means a more comfortable ride on my hardtail. (2.2-2.4) Nothing wrong with wider tyres up front, as most of your grip when cornering comes from up front wheel.

HR are your Ignitors 2.35's UST? I'm looking for a grippy, wide UST tyre, but most shops only stock 2.1 UST's.
