camo Posted March 5, 2010 Share From IOL http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?set_id=1&click_id=13&art_id=vn20100305042734695C962817 More than two years after he smashed his bakkie into two cyclists, killing one and critically injuring another, a Kommetjie mechanic has been convicted on charges of culpable homicide and reckless and negligent driving.Liam Jelliman, 25, was sentenced to two years in prison and had his licence suspended for 10 years. He handed himself in to police and was arrested hours after the crash on November 24, 2007. Police at the time told the Cape Times that witnesses had seen him get out of his bakkie after the crash, remove one of the bicycles that got stuck under his vehicle, and drive off. joevan Posted March 5, 2010 Share Two years!!!!!!!!!!! Is that the price of a life? 10 yrs suspended licence is even more useless, what's the bet he will be back on the road after his service.

firewolf Posted March 5, 2010 Share two years better that a fine and a warning. five years better still. ten better still. best of all would be if these freaking drivers drove slower, safer, nicer. glad it made front page news though (cape times) perhaps the message sinks in
