SuperMario Posted March 10, 2010 Share Would you pay for a dedicated support vehicle on your morning/weekend rides? For example: several guys start from the V&A Waterfront, cycle to Chappies and back. The idea would be for a vehicle to stay behind the slowest rider. The vehicle will be fitted with:- signage displaying "Cyclists Ahead" or something similar- a bike rack should someone's bike break- a basic first aid kit- possibly a PA system to stay in contact with riders (depending on costs)Costs: would R20 per ride be too much? You would need a minimum of 5 riders to book the vehicle.

swiss Posted March 10, 2010 Share We at Telkom CC have such a support vehicle on weekends. It cost us R5 per person (voluntary) for the service. Must say feel much better having one!

shaunh Posted March 10, 2010 Share Hi Super I have such a vehicle with flashing strobe lights etc and use to ride behind the lido bunch. After numerous rides I stopped this as I only received 1 offer for fuel. Good Luck!! I am available for club rides & long distance rides such as Durban etc.

The main idea here is to offer some sort of support and added safety to road riding.

The Saint Posted March 12, 2010 Share Tour De Frans cycles does this on their Sunday rides. 20 Bucks gets you a support vehicle some coffee and a muffin.
