Looks like it has an old american BB?

It's an oscillating BB barrel so I can adjust the tension of the chain, a beauty of a design - I can change rear sprockets too without having to shorten the chain.

Eccentric bb.

It works 32-16 and 32-18 on one chain length; and 32-18 and 32-20 on one more link. There's not enough in the eccentric to take it all the way from 32-16 to 32-20, pity.

Also, be careful with the cap screws which tighten the eccentric, if they strip, it's a problem.

Enjoy the ride!

Ah that's the correct term, thanks bud. I'm riding 32-16 at the moment, 32-17 was perfect for me for a block house ride so I'll have a major challenge if I try that soon. Thanks for the heads up, I've meticulously used loctite on all the bolts too.

Vely vely noice! What's your total cost here?

Just over R10k I think, sold my dual suspension to finance this. I'm hoping that all will go accordingly with my super reliable XT crankset, steel frame and Rockshox Reba Team fork... happy with the end product! smiley1.gif

Nice bike,  I also ride a peace, and also with an XT crankset, but sold my shock and ride with the rigid steel fork now.

Oh yes and I fitted SLX hydraulic brakes.  Your bike must be the previous model to mine because I see the frame is V-Brake specific.

I can ride 3 ratios without shortening or lengthening the chain, 32/18(XC ratio) 32/16(club ride ratio) and also 36/16(karoo2coast, crater cruise and other flat marathons ratio)

These bikes are a pleasure to ride.  Have to say, a Niner SIR9 would be awesome!
